Week 94: Hicham El Guerrouj

We went to a city in our area named Crema (Cream) to find on Monday and right at the end we met these two Moroccan dudes. One was named Hicham so I asked him if he knew or Hicham El Guerrouj, a Moroccan runner who has the world record in the mile and others. They both freaked out and were so excited that I knew a Moroccan athlete. That was honestly the highlight of my week.

This week wasn't too eventful, mostly just eating out with some homies and teaching other homies. I think we made food at home only twice. I did make pesto from scratch though so that was sick. At least I can make good food when I get back. We also accidentally found ourselves in a parade for the national holiday of the Italian liberation. Anyway, that's about it.

I read this scripture this week in my studies and it was a nice reminder of the moments in my life when I've felt God support me through things in my life. Following God doesn’t mean that our life will be easy or that our problems will disappear, but it does mean that our power and strength to get through our trials will increase.

Siamo andati in una città della nostra zona chiamata Crema per trovare riferimenti lunedì e proprio alla fine abbiamo incontrato due ragazzi marocchini. Uno si chiamava Hicham così gli ho chiesto se conosceva Hicham El Guerrouj, un corridore marocchino che ha il record mondiale di velocità sul miglio oltre ad altri. Entrambi sono trasaliti ed erano strabiliati all'idea che conoscessi un atleta marocchino. È stato davvero il momento più bello della mia settimana.

Questa settimana non è stata molto movimentata, per lo più abbiamo mangiato fuori con alcuni amici e insegnato ad altri amici. Credo che abbiamo preparato il cibo a casa solo due volte. Ho fatto il pesto da solo, però, troppo forte. Almeno potrò fare bene da mangiare quando tornerò. Ci siamo anche ritrovati per caso in una parata per la festa nazionale della liberazione italiana. Comunque, questo è tutto.

Ho letto questa Scrittura questa settimana durante i miei studi e mi ha ricordato i momenti in cui ho sentito Dio che mi sosteneva in alcune circostanze della mia vita. Seguire Dio non significa che la nostra vita sarà facile o che i nostri problemi spariranno, ma significa che il nostro potere e la nostra forza di superare le prove aumenteranno.
