Week 106: Ya Like Jazz???

I had to play a song on the piano at church on Sunday, which was great and all, but I definitely got distracted during it and absolutely ruined the second verse. I was hoping my muscle memory would kick in and save me, but it didn't and I was completely and utterly lost. I was literally playing random notes for about 10 seconds straight. It was so bad I literally had to stop myself from bursting out laughing. Luckily once I recovered I was able to play better because I was more relaxed.

This was definitely an interesting week. First, I passed my two year mark as a missionary, but we are still out here going strong. We went to a new city to for finding, but unfortunately the only person we managed to talk to was a crazy guy who was smoking a joint while explaining why his theology was right and ours was wrong. He sat us down on a bench, crouched down and kept touching our knees as he explained. In the end we tried to get out of there while he went to pee behind a tree. He yelled at us from the street and then grabbed my arm and gave me some very aggressive baci on each cheek 😵‍💫

On Monday my companion and I were going to the station to take a train when some Americans recognized us. This lady said her daughter was super sick and they had to catch a later flight. We ended up giving her a blessing in some alley so we wouldn't be bothered and then she threw up again the second we were done. Unfortunately we don't know the rest of the story with them, but it was great to be in the right place at the right time to give this little girl a blessing.

I had the opportunity to share my testimony with the entire mission this week and these were some of the verses I shared:

"Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation. For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand." D&C 58:3-4

I feel like these were a good thing to share with everyone because missions are hard for a myriad of reasons. However that doesn't mean that it's not worth it, quite the contrary. These past two years have been awesome despite the difficulties and I'm super excited to see what I learn as it continues.

Domenica ho dovuto suonare una canzone al pianoforte in chiesa, il che è stato fantastico, ma mi sono distratto e ho rovinato la seconda strofa. Speravo che la memoria bastasse a salvarmi, ma non è stato così e mi sono completamente perso. Ho suonato letteralmente note a caso per circa 10 secondi di fila. È stato così brutto che ho dovuto letteralmente impedirmi di scoppiare a ridere. Fortunatamente, una volta ripresomi, sono riuscito a suonare meglio perché ero più rilassato.

Questa è stata sicuramente una settimana interessante. In primo luogo, ho superato il traguardo dei due anni di missione, ma siamo ancora qui e stiamo andando alla grande. Siamo andati in una nuova città per cercare persone, ma sfortunatamente l'unica persona con cui siamo riusciti a parlare era un pazzo che fumava una canna mentre ci spiegava perché la sua teologia era giusta e la nostra era sbagliata. Ci ha fatto sedere su una panchina, si è accovacciato e ha continuato a toccarci le ginocchia mentre ci spiegava. Alla fine abbiamo cercato di andarcene mentre lui andava a fare pipì dietro un albero. Ci ha urlato dietro dalla strada e poi mi ha afferrato il braccio e mi ha dato dei baci molto aggressivi su entrambe le guance 😵‍💫

Lunedì io e il mio compagno stavamo andando alla stazione per prendere un treno quando alcuni americani ci hanno riconosciuto. La signora ha detto che sua figlia stava molto male e che dovevano prendere un volo più tardi. Abbiamo finito per darle una benedizione in un vicolo per non essere disturbati e poi lei ha vomitato di nuovo non appena abbiamo finito. Purtroppo non conosciamo il resto della storia, ma è stato bello trovarsi nel posto giusto al momento giusto per dare la benedizione a questa bambina.

Questa settimana ho avuto l'opportunità di condividere la mia testimonianza con l'intera missione e questi sono stati alcuni dei versetti che ho condiviso:

"Voi non potete vedere con i vostri occhi naturali, in questo momento, i disegni del vostro Dio riguardo alle cose che avverranno in seguito, e la gloria che seguirà dopo molta tribolazione.Poiché dopo molta tribolazione vengono le benedizioni. Pertanto verrà il giorno in cui sarete coronati con molta gloria; l’ora non è ancora arrivata, ma è vicina.". DEA 58:3-4

Credo che questa sia stata una buona cosa da condividere con tutti, perché le missioni sono difficili per una miriade di motivi. Tuttavia, questo non significa che non ne valga la pena, al contrario. Questi ultimi due anni sono stati fantastici nonostante le difficoltà e sono entusiasta di vedere cosa imparerò man mano che continuerà.
