Week 91: Hospital Maze Miracle

What a week! We started off driving up to Milano on Thursday to do a little mini tech training for the new Sorelle who took our place. Unfortunately we were busy getting confronted by a homeless guy so we were half an hour late and got locked out of the church by the office Anziani. My training ended up being super rushed and so I don't think the Sorelle actually were able to learn anything from it oops.

Friday was insane because we were super busy but wanted to visit a member who was in the hospital. It truly was a miraculous visit and here's why:

-all of our lessons canceled so we had time to go to the hospital after all

-we started driving and as we were on our way we found out that we'd just happen to be arriving in the 90 minutes allotted daily for visitors, something we had no idea was a thing

-we ran into a lady as soon as we hopped out of the car who stopped us and said she was a member of the Church

-some other girl recognized the lady we were talking to and stopped to say hi. This girl was the daughter of the person we were trying to visit and she was on her way to visit him too

-this girl and her family knew my sister when she served her mission in Rome 10 years ago because they used to live there

-none of us knew where in the hospital the guy was and finally after walking in circles for half an hour we found him with 5 minutes to spare

-only one person is allowed in at a time but for some reason they let us in as a group of four

-I had immediately thought of a good spiritual thought to share when we had the idea of visiting the hospital. When we got to the bed of our friend, he recognized my last name and asked me out of nowhere to sit down and share my best spiritual thought without knowing I'd already spent time preparing one

Anyway, that's a list of all the miracles that happened literally every step of the way. We never would have found him in the endless corridors of the hospital if everything hadn't gone exactly the way it did. Seems like some divine orchestration to me. Anyway, the Spirit was super strong as I shared my spiritual thought which was awesome. We then went to visit the first lady we ran into on the street and had another awesome spirit filled visit with them.

This weekend we had General Conference (my last one of the mission) which was super awesome. We watched the first session with our friends in church and I was dumbfounded by how precisely some of the talks answered the questions some of them had asked us just before it started. We were also sad that no Milan temple was announced after 2 years of waiting for it, but I guess God just wants me to finish my mission strong. October 2024 🔜

On Monday we had zone conference which was good as always. Some highlights were running in our suits to catch the train, Presidente Wood and Anziano Hafen doing splits in front of everyone, getting voted most likely to return to live in Italy (go figure haha), and of course all of the trainings we had. It was also like 80 degrees out and the church heating was still on so that was unfortunate.

"And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust." Mormon 9:19-20

Have faith and show faith. Seek and expect miracles because they'll come.

TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Che settimana! Abbiamo iniziato giovedì andando a Milano per fare un piccolo addestramento tecnico alle nuove Sorelle che hanno preso il nostro posto. Sfortunatamente siamo stati impegnati ad affrontare un senzatetto, così siamo arrivati con mezz'ora di ritardo e gli Anziani dell'ufficio ci hanno lasciato chiusi fuori dalla chiesa. Il mio addestramento ha finito per essere super affrettato e quindi non credo che le Sorelle siano state in grado di imparare granché, peccato.

Venerdì è stato pazzesco perché eravamo super impegnati ma volevamo andare a trovare un membro che era in ospedale. È stata davvero una visita miracolosa ed ecco perché:

-tutte le nostre lezioni sono state annullate e quindi abbiamo avuto il tempo di andare all'ospedale.

-ci siamo messi alla guida e, mentre eravamo in viaggio, abbiamo scoperto che saremmo arrivati per caso nei 90 minuti giornalieri previsti per le visite, cosa che non sapevamo esistesse.

-Appena scesi dall'auto, abbiamo incontrato una signora che ci ha fermato e ci ha detto di essere un membro della Chiesa.

-Un'altra ragazza ha riconosciuto la signora con cui stavamo parlando e si è fermata a salutarci. Questa ragazza era la figlia della persona che stavamo cercando di andare a trovare e anche lei era lì per quello.

-questa ragazza e la sua famiglia hanno conosciuto mia sorella quando ha svolto la sua missione a Roma 10 anni fa, perché vivevano lì.

-Nessuno di noi sapeva dove si trovasse esattamente l'uomo nell'ospedale e alla fine, dopo aver camminato in tondo per mezz'ora, lo abbiamo trovato e abbiamo potuto condividere un po' di tempo con lui.

-Solo una persona alla volta è autorizzata a entrare, ma per qualche motivo ci hanno fatto entrare come gruppo di quattro persone.

-Quando abbiamo avuto l'idea di andare all'ospedale, mi è subito venuto in mente un buon pensiero spirituale da condividere. Una volta arrivati al letto del nostro amico, egli ha riconosciuto il mio cognome e mi ha chiesto all'improvviso di sedermi e di condividere il mio miglior pensiero spirituale senza sapere che avevo già trascorso del tempo a prepararne uno.

Comunque, questo è un elenco di tutti i miracoli che sono avvenuti letteralmente a ogni passo. Non l'avremmo mai trovato negli interminabili corridoi dell'ospedale se tutto non fosse andato esattamente come è andato. Mi sembra un'orchestrazione divina. Ad ogni modo, lo Spirito era fortissimo mentre condividevo il mio pensiero spirituale, il che è stato fantastico. Poi siamo andati a trovare la signora che abbiamo incontrato per prima per strada e abbiamo avuto un'altra fantastica visita piena di Spirito con loro.

Questo fine settimana abbiamo avuto la Conferenza Generale (la mia ultima della missione) che è stata super fantastica. Abbiamo assistito alla prima sessione con i nostri amici in chiesa e sono rimasto sbalordito dalla precisione con cui alcuni discorsi rispondevano alle domande che alcuni di loro ci avevano posto poco prima dell'inizio. Ci è dispiaciuto anche che non sia stato annunciato alcun tempio a Milano dopo 2 anni di attesa, ma credo che Dio voglia solo che io finisca la mia missione con forza. Ottobre 2024 🔜

Lunedì abbiamo avuto la conferenza di zona che è stata bella come sempre. Alcuni momenti salienti sono stati la corsa in giacca e cravatta per prendere il treno, il Presidente Wood e Anziano Hafen che hanno fatto la spaccata davanti a tutti, il fatto di essere stato votato come il più probabile a ritornare a vivere in Italia (pensa un po') e, naturalmente, tutti gli addestramenti che abbiamo fatto. C'erano anche 27C fuori e il riscaldamento della chiesa era ancora acceso, quindi è stato un problema.

Per adattarmi al tema di questa e-mail, condividerò di nuovo questa Scrittura:

"E se furono compiuti dei miracoli allora, perché Dio ha cessato di essere un Dio di miracoli pur essendo tuttavia un Essere immutabile? Ed ecco, io vi dico che egli non cambia; se no, cesserebbe di essere Dio; ed egli non cessa di essere Dio, ed è un Dio di miracoli.

E la ragione per cui egli cessa di compiere miracoli fra i figlioli degli uomini è perché essi degenerano nell’incredulità e si allontanano dalla retta via, e non conoscono il Dio in cui dovrebbero confidare." Mormon 9:19-20

Abbiate fede e mostrate fede. Cercate e aspettatevi miracoli, perché arriveranno.
