Week 76: My Daughter Fergie Got Engaged

Yeah don't ask about the title it's a long story.

This week was so bizarre because we basically had half of it off. We started off with our Christmas zone conference which included 5 of the 8 zones in the mission. That means there were like 75 missionaries there it was insane. I got to take pictures of it which was a lot of fun.

On Friday I did an exchange in Busto Arsizio again and got to experience trio life in the field for the first time. Very different from MTC trio. Not sure if I liked it but it was a good time stretching myself. On Saturday we went to two baptisms, one for our Sorelle in Como and one for the Anziani in Merate. We also did some filming while we were there for some upcoming stuff on Facebook 👀

On the way home from the baptism we got totally messed up by our train schedule. Long story short we took a really weird route home but in the process we ran into a guy I had found and taught over the phone last month. He has dyed red hair which was why I recognized him (we'd never met but done a video call) so we stopped to say hi to him. It turned out that his number broke so he got a new one which he now was able to give us. It was a huge miracle and showed me that the Lord was just putting us in the right place at the right time.

For time's sake I'm going to totally copy Elder D. Todd Christofferson (one of the Apostles) and put his Facebook post here because I really liked it:

As Christmas approaches, I realize that some may have concerns and perhaps some anxiety about the future.

There may be a lot of “noise” in your life: more or less constant engagement online without downtime, without time to be quiet and reflect and think, without time to look inside and discern where you are and where you should be going.

You may be influenced by unrealistic expectations such as “perfection should be immediate” or “uninterrupted happiness and success should be the norm in life.”

I hope you will lay aside these misconceptions, dial down the “noise,” and take some time this Christmas season—at least an hour, if not more—to reflect on the wonder and the majesty of the Son of God. Let it be an hour of reassurance and renewal for you.

Take time to relax, be at peace, and see this little child in your mind. Do not be too concerned or overwhelmed with what is coming in your life. Instead, take a peaceful moment to contemplate perhaps the most serene moment in the history of the world—when all of heaven rejoiced with the message, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14).

Non chiedetemi del titolo, è una lunga storia.

Questa settimana è stata così bizzarra perché in pratica ne abbiamo avuta metà libera. Abbiamo iniziato con la nostra conferenza di zona di Natale che comprendeva 5 delle 8 zone della missione. Questo significa che c'erano circa 75 missionari, è stato pazzesco. Ho potuto fare delle foto, il che è stato molto divertente.

Venerdì ho fatto di nuovo uno scambio a Busto Arsizio e ho sperimentato per la prima volta la vita di un trio sul campo. Molto diverso dal trio dell'MTC. Non sono sicuro che mi sia piaciuto, ma è stato un buon momento per mettermi alla prova. Sabato siamo andati a due battesimi, uno delle nostre Sorelle a Como e uno degli Anziani a Merate. Abbiamo anche fatto delle riprese mentre eravamo lì per alcune cose in arrivo su Facebook 👀

Tornando a casa dopo il battesimo, abbiamo avuto un grosso contrattempo con l'orario del treno. Per farla breve, abbiamo preso una strada molto strana per tornare a casa, ma nel frattempo abbiamo incontrato un ragazzo che avevo trovato e a cui avevo insegnato al telefono il mese scorso. Ha i capelli rossi tinti e per questo l'ho riconosciuto (non ci siamo mai incontrati ma abbiamo fatto una videochiamata), così ci siamo fermati a salutarlo. Si è scoperto che il suo numero si era danneggiato, così ne ha preso uno nuovo che ora è in grado di darci. È stato un grande miracolo e mi ha dimostrato che il Signore ci ha messo nel posto giusto al momento giusto.

Pensiero spirituale!

Per motivi di tempo, copierò totalmente l'Anziano Christofferson (uno degli Apostoli) e metterò qui il suo post su Facebook perché mi è piaciuto molto:

Con l'avvicinarsi del Natale, mi rendo conto che alcuni possono avere preoccupazioni e forse un po' di ansia per il futuro.

Nella vostra vita potrebbe esserci molto "rumore": un impegno più o meno costante online senza tempi morti, senza tempo per stare tranquilli, riflettere e pensare, senza tempo per guardarsi dentro e discernere dove si è e dove si dovrebbe andare.

Potreste essere influenzati da aspettative irrealistiche come "la perfezione dovrebbe essere immediata" o "la felicità e il successo ininterrotti dovrebbero essere la norma nella vita".

Vi auguro di mettere da parte queste idee sbagliate, di ridurre il "rumore" e di prendervi un po' di tempo in questo periodo natalizio - almeno un'ora, se non di più - per riflettere sulla meraviglia e sulla maestosità del Figlio di Dio. Che sia un'ora di rassicurazione e rinnovamento per voi.

Prendetevi del tempo per rilassarvi, essere in pace e vedere questo piccolo bambino nella vostra mente. Non siate troppo preoccupati o sopraffatti da ciò che sta per accadere nella vostra vita. Prendetevi invece un momento di pace per contemplare forse il momento più sereno nella storia del mondo, quando tutto il cielo si rallegrò con il messaggio: "Gloria a Dio ne’ luoghi altissimi, pace in terra fra gli uomini ch’Egli gradisce!" (Luca 2:14).
