Week 71: Una Cucharadita

I tried making Venezuelan arepas this week but I totally failed. At least I figured out what cucharadita means though 🥄

What a good week, we really hit the ground running this transfer. So much tech work but we've been doing our best to balance that with missionary work and we've seen some really cool miracles from it. Como isn't the easiest place to find but we've really been trying to follow the Spirit and we've been led to places to find people we wouldn't have found otherwise.

We've been trying really hard to pull things together in the mission and tie together loose ends. We had 2 hours of meetings on Monday followed by three hours of work with the info we've gained. Big things coming the next few months. We're super excited for what we're going to get done here.

Today on p day we took a boat on Lake Como and got to see the Alps and the villa in Star Wars II.

Pensiero!

One quick thought from my studies this week: if God knows all things and yet we pray to Him to tell Him about what we need, what does that say about the role of prayer? Prayer is meant to change us more than it is to change God. He knows us and has a plan for each one of us but He needs us to recognize those things too. This is why our prayers shouldn't be a shopping list of requests, but rather a form of meditation almost. Because the Spirit also can speak to us in our minds, we can also have a two way conversation with God as we pray. I encourage you all to try to have more heartfelt and sincere prayers this week! A good way to start this is by praying out loud.

Questa settimana ho provato a fare le arepas venezuelane, ma ho fallito completamente. Almeno ho capito cosa significa cucharadita 🥄

Che bella settimana, abbiamo davvero iniziato di buona lena questo trasferimento. C'è molto lavoro tecnico, ma stiamo facendo del nostro meglio per bilanciarlo con il lavoro missionario e abbiamo visto davvero dei bei miracoli. Como non è il posto più facile in cui si possano trovare dei riferimenti, ma abbiamo cercato di seguire lo Spirito e siamo stati condotti in luoghi in cui abbiamo trovato persone che altrimenti non avremmo trovato.

Stiamo cercando di mettere insieme le cose nella missione e di risolvere delle questioni in sospeso. Lunedì abbiamo fatto due ore di riunioni, seguite da tre ore di lavoro con le informazioni che abbiamo ottenuto. Grandi cose sono in arrivo nei prossimi mesi. Siamo molto emozionati per quello che stiamo per fare qui.

Oggi, durante il giorno di preparazione, abbiamo preso un battello sul lago di Como e abbiamo potuto vedere le Alpi e la villa di Star Wars II.

Pensiero!

Un pensiero veloce dai miei studi di questa settimana: se Dio conosce tutte le cose eppure noi lo preghiamo per dirgli ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno, cosa dice questo sul ruolo della preghiera? La preghiera ha lo scopo di cambiare noi più che di cambiare Dio. Egli ci conosce e ha un piano per ciascuno di noi, ma ha bisogno che anche noi riconosciamo queste cose. Ecco perché le nostre preghiere non dovrebbero essere una lista della spesa di richieste, ma piuttosto una forma di meditazione. Poiché lo Spirito può parlarci anche nella nostra mente, possiamo anche avere una conversazione a due vie con Dio mentre preghiamo. Vi incoraggio a cercare di fare preghiere più sentite e sincere questa settimana! Un buon modo per iniziare è pregare ad alta voce.
