Week 68: Drip or Drown

Okay super quick rundown of the week because I don't have much time: one of our friends I got to baptize when I was in Firenze came to visit me here in Como. This was the first time this had happened to me on the mission so it was so bizarre (but also good of course) after having not seen him for like 9 months. It's always good to see a familiar face after a long time.

Next, we had interviews with Presidente and Sorella Wood at the mission office. It's always a good time going down there and brings back memories of day 1 every time. Yeesh that was 15 months ago. Interviews might be one or my favorite parts of the transfer because it's a great opportunity to learn from the Woods.

Yesterday was Halloween! We had a big zone blitz in Como and then had a combined zone council. Being District Leader I got to give a training which was a little stressful since it was last minute but I got there in the end. We also busted out some Halloween costumes to celebrate but the only thing I had was my Lidl bathing suit. Probably not the best thing to wear while giving a training to highly impressionable missionaries 🩳😎

Today we went to Milano and as usual it never gets old. I'm still searching for my millionth suit.

Pensiero spirituale!

I had a stroke of inspiration on a DL call I had this week. A good friend of mine once told me that when we feel too impatient for a future event, that we should shift our focus to preparing for it. That'll help us make the best of today while making tomorrow even better. So what you gotta do is 1) establish a vision of where you want to be tomorrow, then 2) decide what you'll do today to become who you need to be to achieve that vision tomorrow. Live in the moment! Don't let today slip away while you wait for tomorrow to come. Make today awesome and it'll carry over to tomorrow.

Ok, riassunto velocissimo della settimana perché non ho molto tempo: uno dei nostri amici che ho battezzato quando ero a Firenze è venuto a trovarmi qui a Como. Era la prima volta che mi succedeva in missione, quindi è stato così strano (ma anche bello, naturalmente) dopo che non lo vedevo da circa 9 mesi. È sempre bello vedere un volto familiare dopo tanto tempo.

Poi, abbiamo avuto le interviste con il Presidente e Sorella Wood all'ufficio della missione. È sempre un bel momento andare lì e ogni volta mi torna in mente il primo giorno. È stato 15 mesi fa. Le interviste sono forse una delle mie parti preferite del trasferimento, perché sono una grande opportunità per imparare dagli Wood.

Ieri era Halloween! Abbiamo fatto un grande blitz di zona a Como e poi abbiamo fatto un consiglio di zona combinato. In qualità di Capo Distretto ho dovuto tenere un addestramento che è stato un po' stressante perché era all'ultimo minuto, ma alla fine ce l'ho fatta. Abbiamo anche tirato fuori alcuni costumi di Halloween per festeggiare, ma l'unica cosa che avevo era il mio costume da bagno della Lidl. Probabilmente non è la cosa migliore da indossare mentre si tiene un addestramento a missionari altamente impressionabili 🩳😎

Oggi siamo andati a Milano e come al solito non ci si stanca mai di andarci. Sono ancora alla ricerca del mio milionesimo abito.

Pensiero spirituale!

Ho avuto un'ispirazione durante una telefonata come capo distretto che ho fatto questa settimana. Un mio caro amico una volta mi ha detto che quando ci sentiamo troppo impazienti per un evento futuro, dovremmo spostare la nostra attenzione sulla sua preparazione. Questo ci aiuterà a sfruttare al meglio l'oggi e a rendere il domani ancora migliore. Quindi, quello che bisogna fare è 1) stabilire una visione di dove si vuole essere domani, poi 2) decidere cosa si deve fare oggi per diventare chi si vuole essere per raggiungere quella visione domani. Vivete nel momento! Non lasciate che l'oggi scivoli via mentre aspettate che arrivi il domani. Fate in modo che l'oggi sia fantastico e questo si ripercuoterà sul domani.
