Week 60: Sports Mode

Our car has a sports mode and let's just say I was having a little too much fun with it this week. Don't worry though I have since stopped using it.

This week we finally got our Spanish to Italian class off the ground which was a lot of fun except when I went to help with the spiritual thought and totally was talking about the wrong verse. Oops.

On Saturday I spent like 3 hours making cookies for a church activity. That maybe was a little extra in retrospect.

That's pretty much it, nothing too ridiculous happened this week. Hopefully now that summer is ending things will pick back up again.

Spiritual thought!

"And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full." Alma 12:10

Faith is a prerequisite to testimony. If it wasn't this way, God would be violating our agency, or the right for us to choose for ourselves. That being said, faith is a choice. We don't just sit and wait for it to come, we need to actively seek out God with a believing heart, otherwise we risk ignoring the very thing we hope to find. It's sometimes hard in a secular world that only believes what one can see, but then again there's so much that we can't see and have to have faith in. Have you ever seen the whole spherical Earth? How do you know the planets orbit the Sun and not the Earth? If it wasn't for scientists who found this out, you could never really know for yourself. And from this we see that faith is a normal part of everyday life. We need faith in physical things and especially in spiritual things, which often are not seen. But that's okay because we're here to learn to follow God even when we don't see Him. We already passed that part of the test before coming to Earth.

TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

La nostra auto ha una modalità sportiva e diciamo che questa settimana mi ci sono divertito un po' troppo. Non preoccupatevi, però, ho smesso di usarla.

Questa settimana siamo finalmente riusciti a far partire il nostro corso di spagnolo-italiano, che è stato molto divertente, tranne quando sono andato ad aiutare con il pensiero spirituale e ho parlato del versetto sbagliato. Oh oh.

Sabato ho trascorso circa 3 ore a fare biscotti per un'attività della chiesa. Forse, col senno di poi, è stato un po' troppo.

Questo è più o meno tutto, non è successo nulla di troppo eclatante questa settimana. Speriamo che ora che l'estate sta finendo le cose riprendano.

Pensiero spirituale!

"E perciò colui che indurirà il suo cuore riceverà la minor porzione della parola; e a colui che non indurirà il suo cuore verrà data la maggior porzione della parola, fino a che gli sia dato di conoscere i misteri di Dio fino a che li conoscerà appieno.". Alma 12:10

La fede è un prerequisito della testimonianza. Se non fosse così, Dio violerebbe il nostro arbitrio, o il diritto di scegliere per noi stessi. Detto questo, la fede è una scelta. Non dobbiamo semplicemente sederci e aspettare che arrivi, ma dobbiamo cercare attivamente Dio con un cuore credente, altrimenti rischiamo di ignorare proprio ciò che speriamo di trovare. A volte è difficile in un mondo secolare che crede solo a ciò che si vede, ma d'altra parte ci sono tante cose che non possiamo vedere e in cui dobbiamo avere fede. Avete mai visto l'intera Terra sferica? Come fate a sapere che i pianeti orbitano intorno al Sole e non intorno alla Terra? Se non fosse stato per gli scienziati che lo hanno scoperto, non avremmo mai potuto saperlo con certezza. E da questo vediamo che la fede è una parte normale della vita quotidiana. Abbiamo bisogno di fede nelle cose fisiche e soprattutto in quelle spirituali, che spesso non si vedono. Ma va bene così, perché siamo qui per imparare a seguire Dio anche quando non lo vediamo. Abbiamo già superato questa parte della prova prima di venire sulla Terra.
