Week 39: Invading the Lecco Sorelle Apartment

Before anyone freaks out, we got permission to go to the Sorelle's apartment. We usually aren't allowed, but the senior missionaries wanted us to fix their tapparella since Anziano Wallace has made a name for himself as the handyman of the mission.

This week was interesting for sure. For starters we got blocked by at least 3 or 4 people we were teaching, which doesn't actually happen too often. We also stopped teaching 20 people on Monday. We officially stop teaching people when we can't contact them, they're not interested, etc. We had a lot of people who had just been sitting in our system for months so we went through and found out who was still interested.

A few other aggiornamenti:

-Got locked in a park in Brescia at 9:30 PM.

-Accidentally planned a baptism the day before it happened (PSA don't assign five talks 24 hours beforehand) and it was crazy stressful.

-We delivered cookies to our neighbors and got to know them a little bit.

-Played volleyball and climbed a fence in my suit pants. Now I know why they're labeled "performance", shoutout Express.

-Went to Verona again, this time for interviews, shoutout Presidente and Sorella Wood

-We had a baptism! To be honest, the Anziani before us did most of the work but it was still nice to be a part of the process.

-The water in the baptismal font started turning brown at one point so we had to empty it and refill it during the opening part of the ceremony. After 2 hours it was still only like 2/3 full but somehow we got it to work still. Despite my best efforts, Sorella Fuller did not want to get into the font to make it Fuller hehe

-We got all 4 of our lessons cancelled on us last second on Saturday 💀 vabbè, capita

-We made tater tots Monday night. It only took an hour and a half...

-Finding has been horrible in Bergamo lately. We were only getting hardcore rejections for the whole week. Then yesterday we brought the whole district over to Bergamo and we went finding for five and a half hours. Anziano Alcorn and I had some good fun strolling in the park and teaching everyone in sight. I've learned that I really enjoy sitting on the grass and explaining the Plan of Salvation to strangers in 5 minutes. Needless to say, we blew our finding goal for the week out of the water.

-We got some freshly milked goat milk from a random family in Lecco and we ate it with Gocciole

Spiritual thought!

"And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection. / But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ." Mosiah 16:7-8

This is why Easter is so important. Not only did Christ himself rise from the dead, but he did it so that we could have that ability as well. This is an unconditional gift and it's super awesome to know that we don't need to fear death because Christ has overcome it for us.

TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Prima che qualcuno si spaventi, abbiamo ottenuto il permesso di andare nell'appartamento delle Sorelle. Di solito non ci è permesso, ma i missionari anziani volevano che sistemassimo la loro tapparella, visto che Anziano Wallace si è fatto un nome come tuttofare della missione.

Questa settimana è stata sicuramente interessante. Per cominciare, siamo stati bloccati da almeno 3 o 4 persone a cui stavamo insegnando, cosa che non accade spesso. Inoltre, lunedì abbiamo smesso di insegnare a 20 persone. Smettiamo ufficialmente di insegnare alle persone quando non riusciamo a contattarle, non sono interessate, ecc. C'erano molte persone che erano rimaste nel nostro sistema per mesi, quindi abbiamo controllato e scoperto chi era ancora interessato.

Qualche altro aggiornamento:

-Sono rimasti chiusi in un parco a Brescia alle 21.30.

-Inavvertitamente abbiamo organizzato un battesimo il giorno prima (mai assegnare cinque discorsi 24 ore prima) ed è stato uno stress pazzesco.

-Abbiamo portato dei biscotti ai nostri vicini e li abbiamo conosciuti un po'.

-Abbiamo giocato a pallavolo e ho scavalcato una recinzione con i pantaloni del mio vestito. Ora so perché sono etichettati come " performance ", urrà ad Express.

-Siamo andati di nuovo a Verona, questa volta per le interviste, grazie al Presidente e a Sorella Wood.

-Abbiamo avuto un battesimo! Ad essere onesti, la maggior parte del lavoro l'hanno fatto gli Anziani prima di noi, ma è stato comunque bello essere parte del processo.

-L'acqua del fonte battesimale ha iniziato a diventare marrone a un certo punto, così abbiamo dovuto svuotarla e riempirla di nuovo durante la parte iniziale della cerimonia. Dopo 2 ore era ancora pieno solo per 2/3, ma in qualche modo siamo riusciti a farlcela. Nonostante i miei sforzi, Sorella Fuller non ha voluto entrare nel font per farlo diventare più pieno (Fuller), ahah!

-Ci hanno cancellato tutte e 4 le lezioni all'ultimo secondo sabato 💀 vabbè, capita

-Abbiamo fatto le crocchette di patate lunedì sera. Ci è voluta solo un'ora e mezza...

-Cercare dei contatti è stato orribile a Bergamo ultimamente. Per tutta la settimana abbiamo ricevuto solo netti rifiuti, poi ieri abbiamo portato l'intero distretto a Bergamo e abbiamo cercato per cinque ore e mezza. Io e Anziano Alcorn ci siamo divertiti a camminare nel parco e a insegnare a tutti quelli che vedevamo. Ho imparato che mi piace molto sedermi sull'erba e spiegare il Piano di Salvezza agli sconosciuti in 5 minuti. Inutile dire che abbiamo superato il nostro obiettivo di ricerca della settimana.

-Abbiamo avuto del latte di capra appena munto da una famiglia di Lecco e l'abbiamo mangiato con le Gocciole.

Pensiero spirituale!

"E se Cristo non fosse risuscitato dai morti, ossia se non avesse spezzato i legami della morte affinché la tomba non avesse la vittoria, e la morte non avesse il pungiglione, non vi sarebbe potuta essere nessuna risurrezione. Ma vi è una risurrezione, e perciò la tomba non ha la vittoria, e il pungiglione della morte è annullato in Cristo." Mosia 16:7-8

Ecco perché la Pasqua è così importante. Non solo Cristo stesso è risorto dai morti, ma lo ha fatto perché anche noi potessimo avere questa opportunità. È un dono incondizionato ed è fantastico sapere che non dobbiamo temere la morte perché Cristo l'ha vinta per noi.
