Week 32: Ten Anziani One Apartment

What's good everyone I hit 7 months this week which was kinda crazy. We also had zone conference in Padova which is kinda far so to cut down on travel time we spent the night with the Verona Anziani. And so did the Bolzano Anziani. And the Bressanone Anziani too. This apartment was meant for 3 or 4 people. We had 10. I should also mention that we only had one shower, so we has to wake up at 5:30 to make sure we were all ready in time and didn't miss the train. Unrelated but I made smash burgers for dinner when we got there and it actually wasn't a complete failure considering that I'd never done it before. I'm become a true chef here in Italy 👨‍🍳

A few other highlights

-I can't tell you how many people cancelled last second or just didn't show up to a lesson this week. I think we only taught a single person the whole week.

-Woke up sick again on Thursday so that was way fun. It luckily only lasted a day or two.

-I got to officially bust out the new double breasted suit with the leather boots for zone conference. Zone conference is where the finest drip comes out 😤

-We got to play basketball with the President Assistants (APs) during zone conference as part of a roleplay

-We had a lot more lessons cancel on us so that was a big L.

-We were asked to help at a ward activity but all we ended up doing was setting up chairs for 15 minutes and then just sit and watch for 3 hours. I don't think that would fit in Preach My Gospel chapter 8 oops

-We had lunch with our bishop's family on Sunday. I got to help him make some potatoes 👨‍🍳

-Got bored Sunday night and filmed a tutorial on how to make pasta 👨‍🍳 video below.

-I almost taught a lesson in Spanish but no one showed up.

-Yesterday at district council we made tons of pancakes. I think I ate like 10 because our bowl of batter just had no bottom.

-Today we went to Milano to have a sports p day with some of the missionaries there. It turned out that there were like 40+ who came anywhere from Trento to Pordenone to Bologna to Como. It was super fun though, we played basketball and football for the most part and ate KFC

-We missed the train home from Milano by literally 5 seconds. Our legs were already beat from playing sports for 5 hours, so after literally jumping over the exit gate at the subway, sprinting the to the train station, then running up like 5 flights of stairs to the platform, I started to feel my legs just give out completely. I literally was within 10 feet of the train when I watched it pull away 💀

Spiritual thought! My favorite miracle in the Book of Mormon is when the Brother of Jared straight up just removes a mountain through faith. I think it's funny that there's no context before and it's never mentioned again after, but on a more serious note it's actually just such a cool story and not very well known. "For the brother of Jared said unto the mountain Zerin, Remove—and it was removed. And if he had not had faith it would not have moved; wherefore thou workest after men have faith." (Ether 12:30). People always say faith can move mountains but I don't think we necessarily realize that it can really do that, quite literally. God is a god of miracles. He always has been and always will be (Mormon 9). If we have faith, He can work miracles, and He will work them through us. Faith allows us to unlock the powers of Heaven because it shows God that He can trust us with that sacred power. We see miracles every day in the Italy Milan Mission, so I promise you all that miracles still happen and that if you exercise faith you will see them, even if they're small.

Ping pong basketball with the APs. This was a finding roleplay and it really brought me back to when Anziano Hammer (who is one of the APs now) and I actually taught someone on basketball court in Arezzo back in September. Good times./Pallacanestro con una pallina da ping pong con gli AP. È stata una presentazione sul trovare le persone che mi ha fatto tornare alla mente quando io e Anziano Hammer (che ora è uno degli AP) abbiamo insegnato a qualcuno sul campo di pallacanestro di Arezzo a settembre. Huge pday in Milano! I legit saw some people I hadn't seen in almost a year which was wild/Un enorme pday a Milano! Ho rivisto alcune persone che non vedevo da quasi un anno, il che è stato pazzesco.

Il bello è che questa settimana ho raggiunto i 7 mesi, davvero pazzesco. Abbiamo anche avuto una conferenza di zona a Padova, che è un po' lontana, quindi per ridurre i tempi di viaggio abbiamo passato la notte con gli Anziani di Verona. E così anche gli Anziani di Bolzano. E anche gli Anziani di Bressanone. Quest'appartamento era predisposto per 3 o 4 persone. Noi eravamo in 10. Devo anche dire che avevamo solo una doccia, quindi ci siamo dovuti svegliare alle 5:30 per essere sicuri di essere pronti in tempo e non perdere il treno. Non c'entra nulla, ma ho preparato gli smash hamburger per cena quando siamo arrivati e non è stato un completo fallimento, considerando che non li avevo mai fatti prima. Sto diventando un vero chef qui in Italia 👨‍🍳.

Alcuni altri punti salienti

-Non so dirvi quante persone abbiano disdetto all'ultimo momento o non si siano presentate a una lezione questa settimana. Credo che in tutta la settimana abbiamo insegnato a una sola persona.

-Giovedì mi sono svegliato di nuovo malato e questo è stato davvero divertente... Per fortuna è durato solo un giorno o due.

-Ho potuto sfoggiare ufficialmente il nuovo doppiopetto con gli stivali di pelle per la conferenza di zona. La conferenza di zona è il luogo in cui vengono fuori gli stili più belli 😤.

-Abbiamo giocato a pallacanestro con gli assistenti del presidente (AP) durante la conferenza di zona come parte di una presentazione.

-Ancora più lezioni sono state cancellate, davvero una grande perdita.

-Ci è stato chiesto di aiutare ad un'attività di rione, ma tutto quello che abbiamo fatto è stato sistemare le sedie per 15 minuti e poi stare seduti a guardare per 3 ore. Non credo che questo possa rientrare nel capitolo 8 di Predicare il mio Vangelo, ohoh!

-Domenica abbiamo pranzato con la famiglia del nostro vescovo. Ho avuto modo di aiutarlo a preparare le patate 👨‍🍳

-Mi sono annoiato domenica sera e ho girato un tutorial su come fare la pasta 👨‍🍳 video qui sopra.

-Ho quasi insegnato una lezione in spagnolo, ma non si è presentato nessuno.

-Ieri al consiglio di distretto abbiamo fatto tonnellate di pancake. Credo di averne mangiati 10 perché la nostra ciotola con la pastella non si esauriva mai.

-Oggi siamo andati a Milano per una giornata sportiva con alcuni missionari di quelle zone. Abbiamo scoperto che erano più di 40, provenienti da Trento, Pordenone, Bologna e Como. È stato molto divertente, abbiamo giocato a pallacanestro e a football per la maggior parte del tempo e abbiamo mangiato il cibo di KFC.

-Abbiamo perso il treno di ritorno da Milano per 5 secondi. Le nostre gambe erano già distrutte per aver fatto sport per 5 ore, quindi dopo aver letteralmente saltato il cancello d'uscita della metropolitana, aver fatto uno sprint fino alla stazione ferroviaria e aver salito 5 rampe di scale per arrivare al binario, ho iniziato a sentire le gambe cedere completamente. Ero letteralmente a meno di 3 metri dal treno quando l'ho visto allontanarsi. 💀

Pensiero spirituale! Il mio miracolo preferito nel Libro di Mormon è quando il fratello di Giared rimuove una montagna grazie alla fede. Trovo divertente il fatto che non ci sia alcun contesto prima e che non venga mai più menzionato dopo, ma su una nota più seria è una storia così bella e non molto conosciuta. "Poiché il fratello di Giared disse al monte Zerin: "Rimuovi", e fu rimosso. E se non avesse avuto fede, non si sarebbe mosso; perciò tu operi dopo che gli uomini hanno fede". (Ether 12:30). Si dice sempre che la fede può spostare le montagne, ma non credo che ci rendiamo necessariamente conto che può farlo davvero, letteralmente. Dio è un Dio di miracoli. Lo è sempre stato e sempre lo sarà (Mormon 9). Se abbiamo fede, Egli può fare miracoli e li farà attraverso di noi. La fede ci permette di sbloccare i poteri del cielo perché dimostra a Dio che può fidarsi di noi con quel sacro potere. Nella Missione Italiana di Milano vediamo miracoli ogni giorno, quindi vi prometto che i miracoli accadono ancora e che se esercitate la fede li vedrete, anche se sono piccoli.
