Week 30: Balloon Museum

We really wanted to go to a balloon museum in Milano today for p day but they were asking for a surprising amount of personal information. Instead we went into the mountains to see some of the towns up there. This one single neighborhood had snow but no others did. Minecraft biomes be like...

In terms of missionary work, it's been the pretty usual grind. We wake up, study, eat pasta, hit the streets to meet new people, teach some people at the train station, teach some English classes, sleep, repeat.

Bergamo is pretty cool and there's some really awesome people here. Somehow everyone knows my cousins from Catania so that's cool. We're also teaching a few families which is super awesome. In our English class we have a professional tennis player, our barber, a swim coach, and a bunch of Ukrainians. Meeting all these different people is actually so sick.

Spiritual thought! The Church has an adaptation of the 12 Step addiction recovery program and it's super cool to look into when learning about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. There's some awesome stories of people who came back from rock bottom because of Christ. One line in step 4 says: "Because of the love and grace of the Savior, you do not have to be what you have been." The Atonement of Christ allows us to be forgiven of our mistakes. Not only that, but we learn in Ether 12:27 and Moroni 10:32 that we can receive strength from Christ to ultimately become perfect. This is how the Atonement of Christ can change our lives. Understanding that this can apply to me personally, that I can truly become a new and better person, has truly changed my life. When this reality of the Atonement truly becomes a reality to us, it will mean so much more. I'm so thankful that I have a Savior who can make me so much more than I ever could by myself.

One of my friends got baptized in Firenze!/ Uno dei miei amici è stato battezzato a Firenze!

Bergamo Half Marathon. We were almost late to church because of all the rerouted buses. It almost made me miss running. Almost. Maybe in a year I'll miss it enough to start training for xc season /Mezza maratona di Bergamo. Siamo arrivati quasi in ritardo in chiesa a causa di tutte le deviazioni degli autobus. Mi ha quasi fatto sentire la mancanza della corsa. Quasi. Forse tra un anno mi mancherà abbastanza da iniziare ad allenarmi per la stagione di corsa campestre.

Oggi volevamo proprio andare al museo dei palloni a Milano durante il pday (giorno di preparazione o giorno libero), ma ci hanno chiesto una quantità sorprendente di informazioni personali. Invece siamo andati in montagna a vedere alcune città. C'era la neve in un solo quartiere e in nessun altro. Proprio come i biomi di Minecraft ...

In termini di lavoro missionario, è stata la solita routine. Ci svegliamo, studiamo, mangiamo la pasta, andiamo per strada a incontrare nuove persone, insegniamo a qualcuno alla stazione ferroviaria, facciamo qualche lezione di inglese, dormiamo, e daccapo.

Bergamo è davvero bella e ci sono persone davvero in gamba qui. In qualche modo tutti conoscono i miei cugini di Catania, forte. Stiamo anche insegnando ad alcune famiglie, ed è fantastico. Nella nostra classe d'inglese abbiamo un tennista professionista, il nostro barbiere, un allenatore di nuoto e un gruppo di ucraini. Stare a contatto con tutti questi tipi diversi di persone è davvero una cosa incredibile.

Pensiero spirituale! La Chiesa ha un adattamento del programma di recupero dalle dipendenze in 12 passi, ed è molto bello da esaminare quando si impara a conoscere l'espiazione di Gesù Cristo. Ci sono storie fantastiche di persone che si sono riprese da situazioni disastrose grazie a Cristo. Una frase del passo 4 dice: "Grazie all'amore e alla grazia del Salvatore, non devi essere più quello che sei stato". L'espiazione di Cristo ci permette di essere perdonati dai nostri errori. Non solo, ma in Ether 12:27 e Moroni 10:32 apprendiamo che possiamo ricevere la forza da Cristo per diventare perfetti. Ecco come l'Espiazione di Cristo può cambiare la nostra vita. Capire che questo si può applicare a me personalmente, che posso davvero diventare una persona nuova e migliore, ha davvero cambiato la mia vita. Quando l'Espiazione diventa davvero una realtà per noi , allora assume un significato molto più grande. Sono così grato di avere un Salvatore che può fare in modo che io diventi molto più di quanto non potrei mai fare da solo.
