Week 16: (true story) meeting the guy from Jurassic Park

So yes it's true we ran into Jeff Goldblum in Firenze today. It was nuts, Anziano Mumford was just outside on the phone and ran into him while the rest of us were looking at leather shoes. Pics below

A few more things from the week

-We did a blitz of Firenze! Basically that means you bring a bunch of missionaries to one area for a day. We had 10 of us here and we just street contacted for 8 hours straight. It was exhausting. Anziano Gregory and I spent all day at the college campus talking to kids our age and it was kinda freaky because they're all atheist. We found 56 people total which is probably an area record for one day.

-We had two Halloween parties this weekend: one in church where we basically played just dance the whole time and another at the US consulate where we made a haunted house and scared kids for an hour. Not exactly sure if that's in line with our missionary purpose but it was service I guess.

-Yesterday we painted doors for five hours at a member's house. None of us knew what we were doing clearly.

-Today we had p day in Firenze with the Pisa/Livorno Anziani. We convinced Sorella Nearon to buy 9 karat gold earrings and we also all bought new Leos for mission conference next transfer.

Spiritual thought! One way that God shows His love for us is by calling prophets who speak for Him to the rest of us on Earth. Some examples of prophets are Adam, Moses, and Noah. They teach us the will of God and lead the church through His power, called the priesthood. In our church we are led by a modern prophet and his name is Russell M. Nelson. This might seem mind blowing at first, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and if there's any time the world has needed a representative of God, it's today. How cool is it that Heavenly Father is still watching out for us? È vero, oggi abbiamo incontrato Jeff Goldblum a Firenze. È stato pazzesco, Anziano Mumford era fuori al telefono e lo ha incontrato mentre il resto di noi guardava le scarpe di pelle. Foto qui sopra.

Altre cose della settimana

-Abbiamo fatto un blitz a Firenze! In pratica significa portare un gruppo di missionari in una zona per un giorno. Eravamo in 10 e ci siamo messi a contattare le persone per strada per 8 ore di fila. È stato estenuante. Io e Anziano Gregory abbiamo passato tutto il giorno al campus universitario a parlare con ragazzi della nostra età ed è stato un po' strano perché erano tutti atei. Abbiamo trovato 56 persone in totale, il che è probabilmente un record in questa zona per un solo giorno.

-Abbiamo fatto due feste di Halloween questo fine settimana: una in chiesa dove abbiamo praticamente ballato per tutto il tempo e un'altra al consolato degli Stati Uniti dove abbiamo allestito una casa stregata e abbiamo spaventato i bambini per un'ora. Non sono sicuro che questo sia in linea con il nostro scopo missionario, ma credo che sia stato un servizio.

-Ieri abbiamo pittato le porte per cinque ore a casa di un membro. Nessuno di noi sapeva esattamente che cosa stessimo facendo.

-Oggi abbiamo trascorso il pday a Firenze con gli Anziani di Pisa/Livorno. Abbiamo convinto Sorella Nearon a comprare degli orecchini d'oro a 9 carati e abbiamo anche comprato delle nuove scarpe della Leo per la conferenza di missione che si terrà il prossimo trasferimento.

Un pensiero spirituale! Un modo in cui Dio dimostra il suo amore per noi è di chiamare dei profeti che parlino per Lui a tutti noi sulla Terra. Alcuni esempi di profeti sono Adamo, Mosè e Noè. Essi ci insegnano la volontà di Dio e guidano la chiesa attraverso il suo potere, chiamato sacerdozio. Nella nostra chiesa siamo guidati da un profeta moderno, che si chiama Russell M. Nelson. All'inizio questo potrebbe sembrare sconvolgente, ma Dio è lo stesso ieri, oggi e in eterno e se c'è stato un momento in cui il mondo ha avuto bisogno di un rappresentante di Dio, questo è oggi. Quanto bello è sapere che il Padre Celeste si prende ancora cura di noi?
