Week 10: I'm Basically AP Now

Hello! This week has been all over the place and I can feel time speeding up. Maybe this is the slancio (momentum) we have been hearing so much about.

Summary of the week!

-We made Chick fil A except it didn't taste like it at all. We will perfect the recipe soon.

-We had lunch with a Peruvian member. He told us he was going to make us some great Peruvian food, but when we got there he asked us to Google the recipe. Needless to say it was good food.

-It was Sorella Wood's birthday so we sent her a video of us singing happy birthday. Anziano Willis sings opera so I got a video of him going over the top.

-We got ice cream with the Lybberts which was super fun. They're some of the senior missionaries who work in the mission office in Milan and they came to visit us.

-We did a blitz (a bunch of missionaries street contacting in one city) of Florence with the Zone Leaders on Monday. I was with Anziano Gregory who just got released as AP (assistant to the president, basically the highest up assignment in the mission) two weeks ago, so being his companion for a day basically gives me that title (just kidding, definitely not, but I can pretend just for the clout).

-I tried making meatloaf on Monday, but our oven has unknown (to us) markings on it so I accidentally had it in the oven for 30 minutes while it was off. I then broiled it for 40 minutes and it was still half raw. I think it was eventually cooked because we ate it and lived.

-We got crepes yesterday and the lady who owns the store was so excited for our English course that she asked us to leave our pass along cards so she could advertise to her customers for us.

That's basically the summary of this week. Bonus story/spiritual thought! Anziano Gregory and I had the goal to find 6 people on Monday (very ambitious for Florence) so we made like 30 phone calls and found 4 or 5. By 8:30 we hit the streets to find the last few. We had no success so we said a prayer and immediately found 4 more people. That's the incredibly abridged version of the story but the moral is that prayer and faith combined bring miracles. We got fortunate in the sense that we got exactly what we had prayed to find, but sometimes that's not always the case. HOWEVER, we will always be blessed in some way for our faith. Look for miracles and you will find them, even if it's not what you expect.

Gelato on the coldest day of my whole mission. It was like 45 F degrees the other morning which is the coldest I've ever experienced in Italy by far./Gelato nel giorno più freddo di tutta la mia missione. L'altra mattina c'erano circa 7 °C, il che è di gran lunga il più freddo che abbia mai visto in Italia.

TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Ciao! Questa settimana è stata molto movimentata e ho percepito il passare veloce del tempo. Forse è questo lo slancio di cui abbiamo tanto sentito parlare.

Riassunto della settimana!

-Abbiamo fatto il pollo stile Chick-Fil-A, ma non aveva affatto il suo sapore. Presto perfezioneremo la ricetta.

-Abbiamo pranzato con un membro peruviano. Ci ha detto che ci avrebbe preparato dell'ottimo cibo peruviano, ma quando siamo arrivati ci ha chiesto di cercare la ricetta su Google. Inutile dire che il cibo era buono.

-Era il compleanno di Sorella Wood, così le abbiamo inviato un video in cui cantavamo Buon Compleanno. Anziano Willis canta la lirica, così ho fatto un video di lui che si esibisce ad alto livello.

-Abbiamo preso un gelato con i Lybbert, il che è stato molto divertente. Sono alcuni dei missionari senior che lavorano nell'ufficio della missione di Milano e sono venuti a trovarci.

-Lunedì abbiamo fatto un blitz (un gruppo di missionari che contattano la gente per strada in una città) a Firenze con i capi zona. Ero con Anziano Gregory, che è stato rilasciato come AP (assistente del presidente, in pratica l'incarico più alto della missione) due settimane fa, quindi essere il suo collega per un giorno mi ha dato praticamente quel titolo (sto scherzando, assolutamente no, ma posso dirlo solo per fare un po' di scena).

-Lunedì ho provato a fare il polpettone, ma il nostro forno ha dei segni sconosciuti (per noi), quindi per sbaglio l'ho messo in forno per 30 minuti mentre era spento. Poi l'ho cotto al grill per 40 minuti ed era ancora mezzo crudo. Penso che alla fine fosse cotto perché l'abbiamo mangiato e siamo sopravvissuti.

-Ieri abbiamo comprato le crepes e la signora che ha il negozio era così entusiasta del nostro corso di inglese che ci ha chiesto di lasciare i nostri biglietti da visita, in modo che potesse fare pubblicità ai suoi clienti per noi.

Questo è praticamente il riassunto di questa settimana. Come bonus ecco una storia/pensiero spirituale! Anziano Gregory e io avevamo l'obiettivo di trovare 6 persone lunedì (molto ambizioso per Firenze), quindi abbiamo fatto circa 30 telefonate e ne abbiamo trovate 4 o 5. Alle 8:30 siamo scesi in strada per trovare gli ultimi. Non abbiamo avuto successo, quindi abbiamo detto una preghiera e abbiamo trovato immediatamente altre 4 persone. Questa è la versione incredibilmente abbreviata della storia, ma la morale è che la preghiera e la fede combinate portano ai miracoli. Siamo stati fortunati nel senso che abbiamo ottenuto esattamente ciò che avevamo pregato di trovare, ma a volte non è sempre così. TUTTAVIA, saremo sempre benedetti in qualche modo per la nostra fede. Cercate i miracoli e li troverete, anche se non sono quelli che vi aspettate.
